Can't seem to register with MagicJack software
« Thread Started on Dec 8, 2008, 5:17pm »

I just got this in the mail today, and frankly it's starting to bug me. I can't figure out why it won't register online to create an account.

I have tried it with my firewall, without my firewall, with my router, without my router, and no matter what I do I still get the same error of "Cannot connect to registration server, please try again in a few minutes".

I have tried multiple USB ports on my system (All 2.0), but I am still not having much luck.

Also, weird side note, my USB mouse seems to be acting up and not moving like it should.

Anyone know of anything else I can try short of reinstalling XP?

Thanks
Chris

When you say, "I just got this in the mail today," does this mean this is someone else's problem or yours personally?

Literally got the actual magicjack device in the mail today.

I did manage to hook it up to an older PC and get it working, but when I try to connect it to this PC I get error #3. The old PC did allow it to get registered, and I have a number now, but I can't get it working on this PC that I wanted to use it on.

I can click the links in the program to load the various web pages (help, google, weather, etc), and I have tried it both without and with the firewall up, as well as port forwarding on 5060, 5061, 5070, 80 and 443.

Any helps appreciated :)

Chris

That doesn't really mention anything about error 3. I couldn't register because it wouldn't connect, and now I can't do anything with it because of error 3.

Appreciate the link though.

Well, it has everything to do with error 3, but if you don't think so, well, good luck...

My ex who is a software engineer says that after spending 15 hours today to get my magicjack registered that it is my civic duty to tell you all the solution. You will not believe this. I don't know the correct term for it, you refresh all the USB ports so they don't remember the last devices plugged into them and then you reboot the computer and plug in the magic jack WITHOUT THE 6" extension (that thing is satan's invention) and it suddenly goes "OH NEW HARDWARE!!" I was on every single freaking help forum, I was on their chat for god knows how many hours getting hung up on. They kept promising me Live Look people (remote access) and then hanging up. I cussed out a supervisor and insulted him and demanded the corporate headquarter phone number and suddenly he connected me with "Paula" and she was able to help me. I would not recommend buying this thing. Just because they have your area code does NOT mean they have a number even REMOTELY local to you. I hate them I hate them I hate them. I hate the inventor's daughter and her dogs, Magic and Jack, and that stupid video of them on the home page. Anyway, if you do decide to spend half your life on hold with them push for a "LIVE LOOK" person which is there remote people who log into your computers and look around. They are the only ones worth anything. The first two tiers of tech support could be done by second graders. I actually had a supervisor ask if it was plugged in. I said no. He asked is the light on? I was was like. HELLO??? IT'S UNPLUGGED. They are purposely deceptive in a bazillion ways. OH and the CHAT server and REGISTRATION server ARE DOWN MOST OF THE TIME if you can't get through and think you are doing something wrong, you aren't. Seriously if you have some valium or good wine or something available to you before you start with their chat people, take some because by the time they are done with you, you are going to have several screws loose and want to run over people with your car.
