OK first to keep me honest - this has only been tested once and worked.
It was discovered thru desperation on a very black day. The first complaint I have had with my Modded Thin Clients... I knew the day would come I just never expected it to be the "I can't hear you problem".
Now here is what I suggested the client try after dinking with his Thin Client by remote access for a time with absolutely no success.
So out of pure desperation (no intellectual insight involved) I pieced together some things I have read here and there and came up with the clever suggestion to turn off his Thin Client, router and modem. Wait 15 minutes and bring the system back on line.
Well it worked and his volume levels were back as they had been. What I think happens is the MJ server profile gets corrupted and will stay that way for as long as it retains the profile it has created for a particular connection. Just cycling power on everything is not good enough to force the server to scrub the profile it has built for you. The fifteen minutes of invisibility must be just in access of what the server is set to use as a hold time for any particular unique connection. So if you stay invisible long enough the server decides you have really gone off line for whatever reason and drops and scrubs your profile. When you finally reconnect it rebuilds it from scratch and in doing so corrects whatever bad values have been assigned for your volume control. The volume level that is used to connect to the Telco lines is a very critical value. If they over drive the Telcos lines they (MJ) can find themselves in trouble with the Telco and the FCC. I know because I did that once with a Ham Radio 2 meter repeater and telephone link I use to operate in the wilds of western Oregon. Short story they came down on me like a ton of bricks.
So this is a lot of assuming for one successful Low Volume Fix, but it is a pretty easy to try potential fix. So if you find yourself with the cursed "Low Volume" bug give it a try and let us know how you fair.
If it proves to be just a fluke I will edit this post to reflect that so I don't send half the MJ users in the world off on a "Wild Goose Chase".
Hope it works for you if you ever develop this problem.
Regards,
