I have a TC t5700 192/256. So, I decided to get the Transcend 1GB module (1gb - $31.70 + $7 UPS Shipping ec.transcendusa.com/product/ItemDetail.asp?itemid=TS1GDOM44H-S), pointed out in the old forums. I've gotten it in. I think I have the stroths 1.2 loaded on a usb memory stick. With my 192 MB HD still in the TC, I can plug in, and use the USB memory stick and it tries to boot up and such, but fails out with notices of "out of space". Without any HD in the TC, I can still boot normally from the USB memory stick. However, with the new 1 GB drive in the TC, the TC doesn't even want to properly come on. The light under the power button doesn't light, although I can see some bright blue lights inside the TC. So, nothing works with that new HD module installed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Weird. Well, after a bit more playing around, the drive and TC did start working correctly.

Transcend 1GB Flash Drives are down to $17 dollars + $7 for shipping. If they get any cheaper they will be paying you to take them if you promise to give them a good home.

Tango, I will say this only because it happened to me one time. I did get a defective 512 flash from Transcend. They replaced it and all is fine now. I have installed at least a dozen or more 1GB flash drive from Transcend and never had any problems - Plug-n-Play. I have never had to configure any of the jumpers but it might be worth calling them just to make sure they haven't changed anything lately. There tech support people are friendly and generally know what they are talking about and they are not reading from a script like some other Tech Support people that I will not name. Just a suggestion, but it is possible to get the unit in and have it offset on the pin headers, it is not likely to happen with the plastic guide pin but it can happen. The other thing I have noticed is to seat a new flash module down on the pins all the way you really have to press on both ends of the connector on the module pretty firmly to get it to seat down completely. Once a flash module has been seated once or twice it is not so stiff so if you are comparing the force needed to re-seat your original module with the force needed to seat the new module it usually takes considerably more pressure. Also I don't know if it is just a quirk of the Transcend modules but about have the time when seating a new module I have had them resist my efforts until I pressed hard enough and actually have them finally pop on making a clicking sound. I am not suggesting brutality here but after you put the new module in take a look at the gap between the pin header on the mother board and the socket header on the daughter board, the gap should be no more than a 1/32 of an inch.

I also recently received a 512MB DOM upgrade from Transcend for my HP Compaq t5700, had problems, but eventually got it working. Here's the procedure I used:
After unplugging the machine's power supply, I removed the existing 192MB DOM from the TC (thin client), installed the new one, hit the power button, and...what? No power light and no video. Unplugged the unit, tried it again--same result.
It was at this point that I noticed a blue glow emitting from the underside of the DOM. I pulled the power supply again, reseated the chip, and gave the TC power again. Same result.
I powered the machine down, put the jumper in the slave position. I got green power light and video, but of course, no boot (no OS in the chip yet). Now that I knew I had not killed my machine by sticking my hand around in there without a wrist strap or mat to protect the TC from damage by electrostatic discharge (ESD), I returned the jumper to the 'master' position, and the machine started up, seeking to boot from the 'master' drive.
I now have XPe SP2 installed on this machine. Now, to get IE7 or 8 on here. Back to my research!
