Used the quote "Tech Support" for majicjack after I discovered I couldn't make any local calls without paying majicjack a fee for long distance. Here is a copy of the conversation:

tammy chrisman: Hello Lina
tammy chrisman: are you there?
Lina: Hello, how may I help you?
tammy chrisman: hello to you
tammy chrisman: I am having problems making calls to local numbers.
tammy chrisman: long distance works fine
Lina: I see may I know what message can you hear when placing a call?
tammy chrisman: we are instructed to go to a majicjack site and purchase minutes
Lina: I see, if that is the case the number that you are calling is a high call cost number, meaning the phone company that is under that number is requiring you to pay for the call via prepaid minutes
tammy chrisman: ah, I don't think that's part of the majicjack deal. it says free local and long distance calls.
Lina: yes we offer free call but the number that you are calling is requiring a prepaid minutes it is not our company that will profit on this transaction but it is company that you are calling.
tammy chrisman: then you are telling me what you advertise and what you provide, is that right? Because I intend to publish this conversation if you can't deliver what you advertise.
Lina: In the Terms of Service: magicjack.com/tos
Lina: Agreement Number 4. What Is Free and What is Not:
Lina: "We may require prepaid purchase and/or we may charge you for calls to conference lines, platforms and certain non-ILEC(high call cost) area calls, or any call wherein we incur a cost from another carrier."
tammy chrisman: I don't see any fine print on the majicjack advertisement that says local numbers may not be free
Lina: let me a sk you almost all of the phone number that you call is free right?
Lina: Most of the calls are free.
tammy chrisman: no, the long distance numbers work fine, but I can't even call next door, or most of the numbers in Michigan
tammy chrisman: and you advertisement doesn't say "ALMOST ALL CALLS ARE FREE"
Lina: Please understand that every phone company has it own terms and service for third party callers. and this is one of our
Lina: Terms of Service section 4. What Is Free and What is Not:
Lina: We may require prepaid purchase and/or we may charge you for calls to conference lines, platforms and certain non-ILEC area calls, or any call wherein we incur a cost from another carrier. We may provide for a fee, premium prepaid services, which may be powered by YMAX Communications Corp. Lina: Terms of Service section 4. What Is Free and What is Not:
tammy chrisman: HMMMM. Where is the terms of service notification on the advertisement, or, for that matter, on the package?
Lina: clcik here to see terms of service
tammy chrisman: OK, I have been waiting for several minutes for your reply
Lina: Click that link please
tammy chrisman: why would I click there. If its not what you advertise, then just say so
Lina: upon registration of the device the TOS will prompt to you.
Lina: I know what you feel about this
Lina: but please do understand that the other phone company that you are calling needs prepaid minutes for the call to go through.
tammy chrisman: upon registration happens after the product is purchased. Upon purchase, the contract is binding based on information provided at the time of purchase. Not what you tell your customers after they have spent their money to purchase your product, not to mention an additional fee to port my old phone number.
Lina: that is why we also give you a 30 days trial period Tammy. so that you can take time to review our product.
tammy chrisman: So, I get a free 30 day trial to find out that you charge additional fees that are not included on your advertisement or the packaging of your product?
Lina: As i have check you device is already past 30 days trial period
tammy chrisman: well, I wouldn't suspect that a company that charges hidden fees would refund anything when a customer realizes this fact.
tammy chrisman: Your answers are pretty pat. So, I assume you get thousands of questions regarding this issue. Indeed, I see the same question on many internet pages, so this is not a new issue with your company.
Lina: once a costumers was informed they understands.
tammy chrisman: well, this "they" doesn't understand.

Scarlet: Hello, how may I help you?
tammy chrisman: What solution can you offer that is not going to take more money out of my pocket. I see from internet post that adding a prefix or suffix to the phone number has 'worked around' the problem for some. Is there a solution to this, or am I going to just continue to get the runaround?
Scarlet: There is no solution. You need to purchase prepaid minutes for the call to go through.
tammy chrisman: OK, that's great. I just copied my screen and I'll see that this is forwarded to the Better Business Bureau as well as posted prominently on the internet.
Scarlet: No problem.
Scarlet: Is there anything else I may help you with today?
tammy chrisman: You haven't helped us with anything, so skip the faux politeness.
Scarlet: As what stated above "there is no solution".
tammy chrisman: There will be.
Scarlet: Any other concerns?
tammy chrisman: NO, you basically have stated that you advertisement if fraudulent. It says "Free local and long distance calls." I can't make any local calls and you tell me I can, I just have to pay for them in advance. I think you have pretty much documented that.
Scarlet: Previous agent provided you the Terms of service. There is no other way around.
tammy chrisman: These terms were not provided at point of purchase or on packaging.
Scarlet: You cannot complete the registration if you did not agree the Terms of Service.
tammy chrisman: OK, this is a circular conversation. If you do not have anything further, I will have to take this complaint elsewhere.
Scarlet: No problem.
tammy chrisman: For starters, I will be forwarding this text to the headquarters of the merchants where your product is sold. I'm pretty sure they will be interested in talking to me.
tammy chrisman: Have a nice day....for now
Scarlet: Sure. Likewise!
