I had MJ working fine on my XPproSp2 updated with Sp3 and more - then I re-installed using XPproSp3. Microsoft activated and validated - all legal. Everything else worked fine. But when MJ tried to download and install on-the-fly, it gave an error message that said it didn't "recognize the version". Uh-huh. I re-installed XP pro Sp2 and then updated with Sp3 instead. It works now. Per MJ CS, it doesn't work with SP3. Maybe they mean a fresh install of XP that included SP3 from the start won't work? As opposed to a version of XP that didn't include SP3, but has been updated to (the level of) SP3 since. ( Ah, blessed confusion! Wonder how many sales have been affected? ) [updated and edited/mb]

Personally, I do not know why anyone would want to install XP 3 to begin with. So much negativity out there about it. My machine runs just fine without it. I keep current on all updates from Microturd. I use FireFox as my main browser. Try uninstalling it (XP 3)(if you can) and see how your MJ runs. There was a warning!....

I have SP3 installed on 3 machines and MJ works on those machines. IMO SP3 is very stable ... people who have problems with SP3 based on my experience have driver corruption problems due to fragmentation. Disk defragmentation works mostly ... where it does not work is for certain system files blocked by the OS plus if your hard disk is getting on in years sectors do ware out which sectors then need to be blocked and blocking sectors is not as reliable as it should be -- not a windows thing it applies to most OS's.

I don't claim to be the sharpest knife in the drawer because I installed SP3 and guess what? No problems for Magic Jack. I just love that little bundle of joy

I was told the other day, that that SP3 knocks out the cmd feature. That's a large loss right there.
(start - run - cmd )
